As much as we crave the warm weather, soft sand, and cool ocean breezes that come with summer, we all have been trying to push from our minds the fact that bikini season is quickly approaching. While this “impending doom” for most girls seems scary and just makes us want to bundle up in winter clothes, this year you can actually look forward to splashing around in those salty sea waters with the biggest bathing suit trend: high-waisted bikini bottoms. A look that is flattering in more ways than one.

Mara Hoffman’s new line was filled with high-waisted two and one pieces that incorporated bright hues and tropical prints that had us feeling very Carmen Miranda meets neon and the 90s. Michael Kors channeled simple, sleek, and sophisticated, with a line big in geometric shapes and bold color choices. Dolce and Gabbana weren’t far behind, featuring a line heavy in the high-waist with florals galore and tons of bright paisley prints.

Gigi Hadid, our favorite IT girl, was seen rocking a blue, black, and white striped high-waisted bikini with a bustier-style top that gave her extra retro flair, while Rihanna had us feeling very “Rosy the Riveter”-esque with her high-waisted blue bikini, fabulous natural hair, denim shirt and sunglasses to seal the deal.
And while the models, and stars, wearing these designs may have six pack abs and not even a hint of a muffin top, most ladies these days do, and this style helps us all look like the Victoria’s Secret model we all aspire to be.
